Blossom Bulletin: February 2025
We hope everyone has had a great start to the year. For all families who navigated transitions to prep, school, daycare, or kindy, we hope everyone is settling well into their new routine. We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the clinic if we haven’t already!
LEGO®-Based Group Therapy
Our first Group Therapy program for the year began this week!
Not sure what Group Therapy involves? For our LEGO®-Based program, children are guided by qualified therapists and Allied Health Assistants in small groups of 3 to complete a group build each week over 10 weeks. Children take on specific roles and responsibilities which rotate each week, drawing upon different skills and challenges. The program:
Uses a neuro-affirming approach
Promotes social communication skills and language skills
Helps enhance emotional wellbeing and emotional regulation skills
Utilises children’s natural curiosity and motivation within the LEGO® systems of play
Includes both structured group building time and creative free building time
LEGO®-Based Group Therapy is a fantastic opportunity for the functional application of the skills children are learning in 1:1 therapy, in a fun environment that doesn’t feel like therapy!
Have a chat to your therapist if you think your child’s goals could benefit from participating in the program. Please contact our admin team if you would like to register your interest for the next round of LEGO®-Based Group Therapy!
Friendly Reminder
A friendly reminder to please contact our admin team if you have any appointment, invoice, payment, or non-clinical questions or issues. Our admin team will be able to help you and will chat to our therapists if required. We appreciate everyone’s understanding and help with this.
Professional Development
Last month, our director Liz and OT Georgia travelled down to Sydney to attend a two-day NISE-Stim Spinal Electrical Stimulation course. Liz and Georgia learned about this advanced therapeutic technique which aims to improve patient outcomes by enhancing the connection between the brain, spinal cord, and muscle leading to neuromodulation. Our clients have already started to see the benefits as Liz and Georgia put their learning into practice!
Last month saw five of our clients complete Intensive Therapy blocks! Well done to our hardworking superstars and their families for the time and effort that goes into completing Intensive Therapy!
